Cutting lines for sheet metal: precision and productivity

Elmea cutting lines are designed for those who cannot afford machine downtime and want a clean, repeatable and fast cut. Each sheet metal cutting unit leaves our workshop in Robecco sul Naviglio ready to be integrated with the existing servo line, without requiring complex coupling operations or lengthy set-up phases. These units operate by means of a mechanically driven oscillating blade, which shears the strip into pieces of a programmed length. The blade descends onto the advancing strip, makes the cut and rises again continuously, synchronising with the rhythm of the press. The result is a clean cut, without deformation of the edge, even on sheets of varying thickness.

Elmea longitudinal cutting lines work in close contact with the press. The machine body is compact by definition: it does not take up space, slow down or complicate matters. It naturally combines with our motorised straighteners, idle roller straighteners and electronic feeders to form a complete and efficient compact feeding line.

Each unit is mounted on a pedestal with manual height adjustment of ±50 mm. This allows the cutting mouth to be precisely aligned with the strip passage height in a matter of seconds, without tools and without stopping production.

Oil-dynamic machines: power and control at each cut

The hydraulic machines allow to break several strips simultaneously, optimizing cycle times and increasing the productivity of the entire plant. Hydraulic cutting lines for sheet metal processing are the right response when traditional mechanical force is not sufficient. Our company designs and manufactures hydraulic machines that use hydraulic oil pressure to transmit high, constant, and perfectly controlled force, even on wide belts and materials of demanding thickness.

The operation is based on Pascal’s principle: the pressure exerted on a fluid in a closed circuit is transmitted unchanged in every direction. An electric motor drives the hydraulic pump, which puts the oil under pressure. The control valves direct the flow to the cylinders. The piston transmits force linearly to the blade, ensuring a clean, repeatable cut without deformation at the edge, cycle after cycle.

Our hydraulic cutting units integrate maximum pressure valves for circuit protection and operator safety. Elmea hydraulic units are built to integrate directly into the production line: they can be mounted on a pedestal with manual height adjustment, to quickly align with the belt passage height, or integrated within the splitting line to maximize the compactness of the plant. They work in combination with our motor straighteners, compact power lines and electronic automation and control systems.
